MATTAH - SACRED STICKS, STAFFS, & SCEPTERS
What is a Mattah?
It is the Hebrew Word that means Sacred, Stick, Staff, or Scepter and can be found in various places. I began having visions of Staffs with images carved and burned into them when our team in Tacoma were using them to dance with during war songs, and the Creator kept taking me to the same scripture:
Numbers 17:1-13 The Message (MSG) - 'GOD spoke to Moses: “Speak to the People of Israel. Get staffs from them—twelve staffs in all, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write each man's name on his staff."'
Come to find out, the Hebrew word used in reference to "staff" in that scripture is Mattah. Many cultures use Staffs and Scepters to mark a person as special, or in the spiritual sence, set apart and holy.
When I got started in this journey of making Mattah, I had no skill in wood burning or carving, nor did I even know what kinds of tools I would need to turn it into a reality. Slowly but surely, the Father led me to various videos or people I needed in order to learn what I needed and how to use these new tools. It took me several years to refine my new skills, and the end result has been nothing short of miraculous. Each time I produce a new Mattah I think to myself, "There's no way I made something that beautiful," and I am correct. If it weren't for the inspiration of the Great Spirit and His leading I would never have these beautiful things to offer to the world. I am eternally grateful to Him for the gifts He has given me.
